Accommodation

Accommodation options while in the Himalayas can vary from camping or staying in a bright room right next to the river, remote jungle lodges,  or lovely heritage properties that give you a great feel for India the mass of culture and wildlife. For most of our fishing trips on the Ramganga River we take our guests to a stunning destination 3 hours drive from the Corbett National Park where guests can enjoy bright, clean rooms with western toilets, electricity and hot running water located a stones throw from the river, but if you choose to camp our supporting team of staff make the experience of being outdoors next to the river an absolute pleasure!

For the food lovers we generally serve fresh, traditional Indian and Chinese food in our large communal dining tent although our head cook and camp manager Serma has also been known to cook up camping style roast chicken and, potatoes and veg just to remind us of home!! We don’t make anything too spicy and our head chef Sherma is great and happy to cook you the food on offer just  the way you like it – most of our guest try to put Sherma in their bag on the way out to take him home and one of our seasoned clients even said to him “he’s the god of food!!”.

The majority of the food is vegetarian with chicken and mutton available for the meat lovers amoungst us. We normally get up early and fish between 7am and 9am when the weather is cool and then eat breakfast of tasty plain or veg masala omeletes, toast, fruit and porridge, then relax for the middle part of the day when the sun is at its hottest eating lunch at around at 3pm, ready to then head out for fishing at 4pm until dark. We serve dinner betweem 8-9 pm and if you feel in the mood we can try a little fishing after dark although most of the guides think that darkness isn’t the best time for big fish!

Alcohol is available in the local town and can be bought at very reasonable rates, but if you want good quality spirits then bring them with you from duty free at the airport as Indian spirits are not the most palatable! Mixers and other softdrinks are available at the camp at no extra cost.
