Accommodation

Accommodation options while in the Himalayas can vary from camping on the river, jungle lodges or lovely heritage properties that give you a great feel for India the mass of culture and wildlife. For most of our fishing trips on the Ramganga River we use our big safari tents for most of the season. Camping in India is a great experience and we have a great supporting team of guys who make the whole time a joy to be outside in the cool breeze and right by the river and fish.

For the food lovers we serve traditional Indian and Chinese food in our large communal dining tent,  we try to steer clear of the “continental dishes” that you just can’t make properly in India and opt for more traditional Indian food. We don’t make anything too spicy and our head chef Sherma is great and is happy to cook you the food on offer just  the way you like it – most of our guest try to put Sherma in their bag on the way out to take him home and one of our seasoned clients even said to him “he’s the god of food!!”.

Most of the food is vegetarian but if you want meat dishes then we can arrange for chickens and goats from the local village to be freshly cooked on site that day. We normally get up early and fish between 7am and 10am when the weather is cool and then eat breakfast of simple omelets, toast, fruit and porridge, relax for the middle part of the day when the sun is at its hottest eating lunch at around at 3pm ready to then head out for fishing at 4pm until dark. We serve dinner betweem 8-9 pm and if you feel in the mood we can try a little fishing after dark although most of the guides think that darkness isn’t the best time for big fish!

Alcohol is available in the town and can be bought at very reasonable rates, but if you want good quality spirits then bring them with you from duty free at the airport as Indian spirits are not the most palatable! Mixers and other softdrinks are available at the camp at no extra cost.
